Since Kate can remember, she has always been in love with horses, the way they move, and how a single breath or look can communicate something. While her access to horses was limited mostly to summer camps, she had her hands on a horse any chance she could. Kate’s true riding journey started when she was thirteen. She began learning from her aunt and her herd of six Appaloosas every minute she could. She eventually grew her foundations in natural horsemanship, connection-first riding, trails, and arena work until she was eighteen.

At eighteen, Kate got her first job at a boarding facility where she was exposed to many different horses and people from all disciplines and backgrounds. From here her knowledge only grew. It was also here that she met her heart horse, a senior gelding named Pikante. He taught her about classical dressage for a year while she leased him before purchasing him to retire with her. It was also Pikante who opened her eyes to the healing powers of equine bodywork, fueled her passion for keeping horses' bodies feeling their best for longer, and continues to fuel her deep love for senior horses who spend their working lives giving their all. Kate believes horses are our greatest teachers, and that we never stop learning from them.

Kate started Grounded Equine Bodywork on her foundation from the Equine Natural Movement School in Structural Integration and her experience as a Reiki practitioner. Her approach focuses on identifying and releasing underlying tension and compensation patterns to restore balance to the body. Kate’s education in equine Structural Integration combined with an intuitive connection with horses allows her to strengthen human-horse relationships and keep our four-legged family members doing what they love for longer. Her deep love for senior horses drives her passion for preventative care and maintenance.
